XL YOGA – Ahimsa
Mahatma Gandhi’s birthday October 2nd is celebrated worldwide as the International Day of Non-Violence. Remembering a man who helped to bring forward the notion of non-violence and thinking of the tremendous impact this form of social response has had all over the world in the last century.
The International Day of Non-Violence honours how Gandhi’s work and legacy has impacted global, non violent protest.
Yoga XL- Ahimsa
Daniela explores the Yama - Ahimsa during this special Yoga Class. A part of the first limb of yoga from 'The Yoga Sutras of Patanjali'. The philosophical texts ‘The Yoga Sutras of Patanjali’ constitute the foundations of yoga. Essentially providing us with a guide to reaching Samadhi – that state of bliss. The sutras cover what is known as the ‘Eight Limbs of Yoga’ – each limb is an aspect of the path of yoga, and offers us guidance within our practice, both on and off the mat. The first limb is made up of the ‘Yamas’; kind of moral values or abstinences – the guide to how we can best act towards ourselves, and the world around us.
As non-violence, Ahimsa, is one of the important aspects of the yoga, we will dedicate our yoga practice this evening to Ahimsa.
We will start our session with a guided meditation, coming to a powerful Yang Yoga Flow based on Ashtanga Yoga, that will be finished with some soft asana’s and round of with a peaceful Savasana and recharging Ocean of OM.
